Question of the week for November 20th

In class I have been studying and producing both kinds of writing which are both very interesting. But, there is only one that I feel more comfortable leading to the "living web" exemplified by my blogs I have create throughout the semester. Mark Bernstein stated that "some parts of the web are finished, unchanging creations", this does not make me feel comfortable with the information posted on the website. I like to believe that when I look up information on the web the information is changed to the correct information. When I wrote my blogs there was room for error since I could go back and change what I wrote to make sure I was not giving out false information to other people to absorb. Writing for the "living web" lets me write freely in which I like. Writing a blog is almost exactly like writing in a journal. Some of the fixed websites could be somewhat boring depending on the issue that is being written about. These website are very straight to the point factual information. Some factual information can be very boring unlike a blog where I can write what is on my mind. I enjoy writing things down that I feel and information that is interesting to me. If it's interesting to me, it probably is interesting to maybe another person or even a group of people. It's also nice to be able to create a website such as what color, what pictures, what font without having to follow a strict process. That's a positive aspect that I love about blogs and the "living web".

Question of the week for November 27th

I have learned many interesting concepts during Web writing. This course helped me a lot in how to maneuver through the internet world easier and how it can help me with getting different types of information. Every class I feel like I have learned a new thing everytime I sat down at my computer. Being able to make my own website is awesome. I never had this knowledge of making my own website and having it on the internet for everyone to view. Dreamweaver being the program that I used to create my own website. This program let me do many different things to make my website creative and catchy or viewers to enjoy and navigate easily. Dreamweaver is a great program that let me and three other people make a website that will be posted for anyone to view for information on biolipids and bioscience. This link primarily dedicated to medical personal. I learned how to make the website attractive so more people will view. I also learned how to link different pages to the index of my website, and what information should be put on certain pages to satisfy viewers.
The most important or significant difference (s) between Web writing and other forms of writing is that web writing you are allowed to update information for the viewers to receive information that is correct. Blogs are also a great way to show people not only opinion based thoughts but also factual thoughts that indeed can be changed when up to date information is given. The web is also a lot easier to contact since its as easy as clicking a button to get to the internet. The web has information on about any single thing that someone can think of or need to know and learn. The web is a lot more convenient unlike for example, the newspaper or a magazine. These inprint sources can not be updated when someone wants to or needs to. An inprint article is permantenly printed on the page, maybe giving the public false information that could not be changed until the next inprint newspaper/magazine is sent out. Mistakes cannot exist in these types of forms of writing. The web if made a mistake can be changed when needed.

Question of the week for November 13th

There has been many different trends that have been seen as popular for web design. When looking at www.webdesignfromscratch.com there are many different trends that are very appealing to the eye. Attractiveness is very important when designing a web design. People will view more of the websites that are seen as interesting, colorful, good contrasts, and look like someone worked hard on the final product. When looking at the different current trends they indeed attract me to looking at what they are about. The colors that they use are used very well. The different colors work good together and there isn't to much color in the design. I also like how the current web designs have a picture to make the website more catchy. Pictures to me are always a positive aspect to throw into a website. Sometimes pictures make it easier for viewers to learn what the website is about. The content of the web designs are placed perfectly in the right spot, this is the most important aspect to a viewer. If someone doesn't know where any of the content is and has to be searching for several minutes to find it, it could turn many people off to not wanting to use that certain website. All in all I really like these web graphics and I would love to have my group project to look like these. I love the colors, where the content is placed and also how the colors are used together. It's also easy to navigate since the headlines are bold and the font was made bigger, being very simple to catch and click on if needed. These current trends have most definitely changed for a positive way. I think more websites should be conducted like these current web designs.
When referring back to my group project I would most likely want to use the color scheme. This is my favorite part of the current web designs. I think by using colors like these shown on www.webdesignfromscatch.com , we could bring in a lot of viewers. I also like the way that the different headlines are bigger then the content font making it easy to navigate through the page and how it's bold making it stick out. These aspects could increase the popularity of our group website.

Question of the week for November 6th

The web as we know has increased in our societies dramatically. The average people at least have one computer and use it daily if not several times a day. By the web allowing people no to use written content, sound, video animations and images with much more ease than in other types of media it has led to an explosion of creative content online. This could be seen as a good increase for the web industry.
I honestly think that it will not affect the more traditional outlets more so television and films. Magazines and publishing houses may be affected a little bit more in losing money because the web has considerable been increasing knowledge of visitors being able to conduct different uses. The film and television industry will always be booming since it's seen as two of the top ways to consume information bringing in so much money it won't be affected by anything, i.e. the news, sports, comedy, political views, etc. The traditional outlets with magazines and publishing houses may be at fault and become competitors with the web. Using the internet and the web is already seen as a very useful tool when looking for information on mostly anything in our societies today and by increasing the content and having it become more creative is a positive lift that will boost its popularity to the people. Newspapers and especially magazines are I believe seen as less prevalent in our society today, not bringing in as much money as needed. Some of these traditional outlets could end up being in jeopardy but some like television and films I believe will stay at its peak at not becoming a competitor.
One disadvantage that could lead to the web decreasing the amount of visitors and becoming less competitive could be the fabrication that is known to happen with blogs or any website. Many sites today have false information that can be seen and used by visitors. This could be classified as a major disadvantage to the world of internet access. People want to rely on a "competitor" that they know they are receiving correct information, i.e. the news. But on the other hand the internet can be very persuasive to people making it explode to great lengths.

Question of the week for October 30th

In Hot Text (and a quoted in Writing for the Web), the prices describe attention as the "currency of the Internet." Depending on how popular one's website is will create how well it's currency is and how well ones business is holding up. Having a website that is known by many people is a good way to boost your web business which increases profit. Word of mouth is probably one of the best ways to increase the viewers on a website. If one person hears the website is helpful with information, correct information is listed, its organized, etc. people will being to buy things on the website, writing blogs, and viewing more occasionally.
I will apply this to my group project by having my certain site be very well organized, concise, factual, anything that will reel in the viewers. My project is based on pharmaceutical sales which tied in with not only pharmecy workers but also other medical professions i.e. doctors. This will lead us to having to make our website look professional. Hopefully eventually leading to the website making a good profit all because the site is viewed a lot. There will also be contact information that can be reached hopefully making the site grow even more. In the end having a great profit and currency because of the website being so successful.

Question of the week for October 23rd

One interest that comes to mind when searching for blogs is the Syracuse University Men's Basketball Team. With Syracuse, New York being my hometown I'm a big fan of the men's basketball team along with thousands of other people. The SU basketball team being so popular and extremely talented with them winning the national championship a couple years back, having the most talented player around that is now playing pro after one year of college , and is increasing their talent and increasing their fans there's no question that it would be a great interest of mine. When searching for blogs on the SU men's basketball team there are 10 pages worth and 1,300,000 articles on my favorite website that tells me anything I need to know, Google.com. I believe that there are an outstanding amount of articles/blogs on this topic not only because blogs are so simple to publish in which anyone can write what they feel for others to see but also the sport basketball is an extremely popular sport known all over the world and Syracuse University being one of the top best teams in the Big East Conference. The Big East Conference is known to be one of the most competitive leagues around. People from all over the United States support the Syracuse University's men's team along with the greatest coach Jim Boeheim. Other bloggers are are all supporting my interest since they are all fans of this team in the Big East. Many of the blogs that are posted on google.com are highlighting the key players, how the team has increased their talent to becoming one of the top teams in the Big East today and how they will continue to grow. I completely agree with what the blogs are saying, I truly believe SU has great potential to win another National Championship. If bloggers were in the future to be posted negatively about the sports team it would only be because they think Syracuse is a threat to their favorite or hometown team. In reality I have not witnessed this negative publication yet when searching for blogs pertaining to the SU men's basketball team.

Question of the week for October 16th

I have very much experienced the effect being described in the quote listed in the question. I truly believe that the information on web pages is becoming so large its very difficult to consume all the information that is given to the viewers. With having more and more people writing content in addition to reading it, it also could be said that the percentage of correct factual information has decreased tremendously since people are now allowed to post comments and other information on certain websites. Keeping up with the variety and quanity given to a person when getting information that is available on the web is very difficult unless like me, you have certain websites that you truly trust and have used for quite some time and have had no problems. I really like U.S. Lacrosse website in which they provide a magazine also that I am subscribed to so I know that the information that is posted is correct. If that is the case I will introduce this website to many of my friends, collegues, and family to take a look and experience what is written on the site. There are many things that the Web writing, Web design and Web technologies should change to allow people to manage and control information. Since web writing has become more and more popular everyday especially today with such a high advancement of technology towards computers, there are millions of ways to create false advertisements, and false information. One way to warn people of this mishap is to somehow post on the page of the website that this site contains some non-factual information to show the viewers that this information should not be used for any research based knowledge. To become more advanced with these matters, the best idea to come yet is having only the producers and/or companies that made the website be able to change what has been written on their page. That way it would reasure the viewers and make that site more popular to research on because of the facts only being placed in the article by that one specific person.

Question of the week for October 9th

As a consumer of Web writing in personal and professional contexts there are many ways to show viewers like myself that the information portrayed is accurate and honest when reading the context. When going to a website the first thing that should be put together nicely is the website itself. The quality of work put into the website will always catch a person's eye, knowing that the creator of the website took the time to edit and support his factual information to make it correct. To me first impressions when looking at a website is what makes me either read on or click the "back" button and look for another site to research on. Usually the reason why im looking up information on the web is for the use of research papers, projects, email, news, etc in which factual information is very well needed. I try to use websites that are popular and that are recommended by either other people or professors for school. One website I learned not to use if correct statistics are needed is wikipedia. This cite lets the people write and change the information that is posted on the website which could turn out to be false advertising. Other ways to stroll towards the right website is just knowing the name because everyone uses it for information. These types of websites that are very broad are google, dogpile, etc. knowing numerous amounts of people use these sites it takes more of the pressure off to know that the information must be factual. Producers know when making a website for instance from a newspaper can guarantee that people will believe the information on the site. Website like CNN and FOX or evenThe Wall Street Journal have great informational facts that people will believe they are getting the correct information since the same information was on a television network and in and inprint version (daily newspaper). Producers when also making their website should be professional about it, if viewers begin to like your work they will start researching data on the web that is published by you. The producer needs to make a name for himself, make his name known to others.
Knowing what websites to use to get factual based information can be very difficult but by using your common knowledge and instincts it can shoot you in the right direction to finding what you want.

Question of the week for october 2

A website is seen by millions of people everyday browsing the net either shopping or searching for the daily news or research. Any of these websites consists of an http://www. ( ). This will connect you to the server and let you continue to search for your specific information. Some websites are naturally boring or dual but others are flashy and energetic. By these characteristics it can help someone decide if they want to read or look at what they are seeing the minute they see it.
Three most important qualities of a website that make it "good" would have to be:

1. The color and energy of the website. When linking to different websites I want to see some sort of style, and color to it to catch my eye. Knowing that someone put hard work into making this website for millions of viewers to hopefully look at is a positive aspect in my eyes. Some colors are good along with the title being bigger than the main text but when to many crazy colors come into play it becomes a catastrophe for example FLUORESCENT colors. I dont want my mind to go crazy because of all the different fluorescent colored text that they provided for us when in reality it is straining people's eyes just trying to read the article itself, nice normal bold colors are great, (red, blue, green, black, etc.) A website needs just the right amount of variation to it to make it stand out from other websites.

2. The length or the website has to be some what readable. I don't expect it to be a page long when in reality it should be more. But I think what has to be told on the website should be carefully worded into the right amount of pages. I like to read articles that have interesting facts, and that are getting straight to the point of the storyline and are interesting. I dislike reading websites that repeat themselves over and over again taking 3 pages to get to the main storyline. This is when I will stop reading and start looking for another website to look at.

3. The main http://www. address should be easy to remember and flashy. One website that first popped into my head was www.youtube.com. This website is a very popular website containing a lot of information that people can easily remember instead of addresses with all sorts of weird letters, numbers and slashes can be extremely hard to remember. This is when the disadvantage of writing down websites to remember them gets on people's nerves. www.dogpile.com is another website that is like a google.com in which you can search for anything that someone can possibly think of. Once again this address being easy to remember and not a strain on the brain when needing to look something up.

There are many other important qualities that a website can have to make it look better and become more popular. Those three in general being very important.

Question of the week for September 25

When creating an online portfolio or personal home page on a site like facebook or myspace can surely create problems. The personal information that is disclosed on the web is based all up to what you want to post and what you want everyone like family members, friends, collegegues, bosses to view. Some of the potential problems with posting information about yourself online is that anyone that has access to a computer and the web can view what has been written about your personal life or plain and simple any characteristics about you. This could create problems when strangers are viewing the facebook profile and can see what your phone number is, your address, and what city/town you live in. This information should be private to solve the problem of strangers being able to stalk someone all because of a simple website like facebook that is mirroly to talk to friends and family online.
I defintely think that employers should be allowed to make decisions about hiring and firing someone based on the information that they can find in the Web searches or the writing for the web that you do outside of work. When hiring someone for a job you want them to be professional and to represent the company that they are going to work for. By having a facebook account and posting information that could be considered dangerous to their well being could harm the company. Business's don't want employees that are a threat to their company by having these open online sources that anyone can view and collect information. If someone close to me that I knew through family/friends found information about me on a web search would ask them why they were searching for name anyways and if they have heard from other people that I had personal information posted on the web (i.e. facebook). I would then ask them for their opinion of what they had read in my profile. This is when I would think twice about posting personal information up on the web and would probably think about what I was writing for everyone to see before I did it.
